Build your own cloud-based two-factor authentication service

We published a tutorial on how to use packer to build your own cloud-based two-factor authentication as a service with WiKID.  As you can see from the tutorial, it is incredibly easy to setup WiKID on EC2, GCE, Digital Ocean etc. Moreover, this is a very easy way to build a WiKID server for your internal virtual platform if it is supported by packer.   You can download the scripts from our github repo.

A few things to note:

You get 5 free licenses and each license after that is only $24 per year, so you could set up a service that provides cloud-based two-factor authentication, match existing competitors' prices and have a 50% margin.   Needless to say, this is much less than typical hardware tokens too.

Unlike most authentication-as-a-service offerings, with WiKID you get it all at the same price:  Full API access, advanced deployment options, TACACS+, Radius return attributes, chat and email support, etc.  Plus, you maintain control and can tie Active Directory into the authentication process for authorization.

We will plan on continuing to explore Packer's capabilities.  We will add more security to the scripts, combine scripts and use them to produce software. We have already done this with our two-factor auth-ready AMI.

Look for more soon!
